There are several ways to travel to McCall. Below are directions based upon your method of travel.
Driving From the Boise Airport
The trip from Boise to McCall is an easy 115 miles along ID-55, weather permitting. During winter you will want to check current road conditions. Be aware that highway 55 is a two-lane road with few passing lanes. Traffic can be very congested certain times of the year, especially on weekends. Be prepared to go with the flow of traffic, which sometimes means following a slow moving RV or snowmobile trailer for longer than you desire. Luckily the scenery is beautiful, so stay calm and enjoy the view.
When departing the airport head West on I-84. Take Exit 44 and turn right. After 6.5 miles turn right onto ID-44 E/ID-55 N. After just under two miles turn left onto ID-55 N/ID-55 Scenic N. Drive another 99 miles and you have arrived.
Driving From Ontario, Oregon
If you are coming into Idaho from the west, of if road conditions on Highway 55 are poor, take US-95. You will drive 110 miles to reach McCall.
From I-84 take Exit 3 and turn North onto US-95. Drive for around 50 miles, you will come into the small town of Cambridge. (Watch your speed through town. 25 mph feels really slow.) At the stop sign turn right, continuing on US-95. After another 45 miles you will come into New Meadows. At the stop sign proceed straight onto ID-55. Another 12 miles will have you in McCall.
