Boating is a wonderful activity for family and friends. The McCall area offers two large lakes for you boating adventures.
McCall sits on the southern shore of Payette Lake, a 5300 acre gem nestled between majestic mountain ridges. When it comes to natural beauty, this area is unmatched. Approximately half of the lake is protected as a part of Ponderosa State Park, providing a backdrop of natural wilderness.
The lake is served by the full-service Mile High Marina, which is located just steps from downtown. Services provided include fueling, docking, and boat rentals ranging from personal watercraft to 12-passenger pontoon boats.
Located 15 miles south of McCall, Lake Cascade comprises a surface area of 47 square miles. Tamarack Resorts sits on the western shore of the lake. The lake is also home to many campgrounds. With warmer water than that of its northern counterpart, Cascade Lake is a draw to those escaping chilly water.
Formerly referred to as Cascade Reservoir, the lake was created in 1948 by the Bureau of Reclamation by the construction of an earthen dam on the North Fork of the Payette River.
